Speaker Information and What's New

We are delighted that you wish to submit a presentation!

Please register by 11.11.2022 (beginning of the carnival season) - by 22.22 hrs - with all documents in our online conference tool (ConfTool).

You should prepare the following documents for the conference online tool

  • Title of presentation
  • Abstract (60-80 words) giving an overview of the idea and content of your presentation
  • Long text (250-300 words) providing the programme committee with more information regarding the content of your presentation.
Please complete the following word template: Call for Papers Template
  • Photo of the speaker, possibly photo of co-presenter
  • Short personal biography, possibly also for the co-presenter

One co-presenter is welcome at REConf on the day of the presentation.

+ NEW: This year we are offering a choice of presentation formats:

1. ++NEW++ 22-minute presentation slot

  • Approx. 4 min. welcome & introduction
  • Approx. 18 min. presentation

You are convinced that brevity is the spice of life and can get your message across in a nutshell? Then this new presentation length is just right for you! Sharp presentations often attract more attention from the audience.

2. ++NEW++ 45-minute presentation with an interactive part

  • Approx. 5 min. welcome & introduction
  • Approx. 25 min. presentation
  • Approx. 10 min. presentation with interactive elements
  • Approx. 5 min. for questions

3. 45-min presentation slot

  • Approx. 5 min. welcome & introduction
  • Approx. 35 min. presentation
  • Approx. 5 min. for questions

When choosing between presentation formats 2 and 3, we recommend presentation format 2. You can hold the audience's attention better with interactive aspects. This way, you will involve them even better in your topic. Our REConf facilitators will be pleased to support you in facilitating this interaction.

There are many effective ways of creating interaction. Here are three suggestions:

  1. Put a problem mentioned in your presentation up for discussion. In groups of three, one participant raises a problem and the other two try to solve it using resources from your presentation or their own ideas. For example, a general question independent of your presentation could be: "What challenges are you currently facing?" and "What do you need help with?" The group has 5 minutes.
  2. Ask people to answer a question in pairs. Each person has 2.5 minutes. For example: which of the approaches mentioned in the presentation would be suitable for your team and why?
  3. Ask people to think about how the problem in your presentation could be solved, first individually for 1 minute and then in pairs for 4 minutes. Ask for a 15% solution: e.g. "How would you approach the problem. How would you start? What would be the partial solution that immediately comes to mind?"

If you choose presentation format 2, your presentation will be described as "interactive". This makes it particularly interesting for delegates who wish to be actively involved and discuss your topic with other participants.

What happens next?

We will let you know what the programme committee decides by the middle of December 2022.

Because considerably more presentations are submitted than we have time for at REConf, regrettably, we have to reject some submissions, so ask for your understanding if we say 'no'.

Your presentation has been accepted!

The following benefits await you (and a potential co-presenter):

  • Welcome Reception on Monday, 24 April 2023
  • Free access to conference presentations on 25 & 26 April 2023, excluding workshops
  • Participation in the evening event on Tuesday, 25 April 2023

A maximum of one co-presenter per presentation has free access to the conference. However, this only applies if the co-presenter was named at the time of submitting the presentation. Subsequent admission of additional co-presenters is not possible. To gain access, any additional co-presenters will need to register for the conference subject to a fee.

Registration at the conference
When registering at the conference, you only need to give your name to receive full conference documentation and your name badge. This gives you access to the conference. Please note that due to the high number of delegates, especially on Tuesday morning, there may be delays at registration. Please therefore arrive in good time.

Travel and accommodation costs
The cost of travel and accommodation is not covered. Please arrange your own accommodation at the conference hotel or at a hotel nearby. You will find the link for booking hotel accommodation at the special REConf rate with information about the Conference Hotel on the REConf2023 website (link). Please reserve your own room in advance as the  allocation of rooms is limited.

Speed Presentation
You can introduce your presentation at the end of the opening keynote address on 25 or 26 April 2023. You have 60 seconds for this. It helps participants to decide which presentations they wish to attend during the day. For you, it is a very good opportunity to create interest in your presentation. To ensure that the speed presentations run smoothly, we would ask you to be present at the keynote session on the day of your presentation and to sit in the front row. You will receive further information about this (e.g., a master slide for the speed presentation) shortly before the start of REConf 2023.

Final presentation slides
We would ask to have the following ready by Wednesday, 13 April 2023: your slide for the speed presentation, your final presentations slides, as well as a PDF version of your presentation (which we will offer as a download after the conference). Further information about this to follow.

Discount codes for speakers to pass on
As a speaker, you will receive a discount code for REConf 2023, which you can pass on to colleagues and friends.
