DESIRe® for Word is a Microsoft® Word® extension that supports 
the user in writing better requirements. This is done by asking 
context specific questions, giving context specific hints or 
displaying context specific information.

This document describes the DESIRe for Word implementation
developed by HOOD Group.

DESIRe, the delivered "List of Words" and all documentation 
are subject to the HOOD Software Licence Agreement V1.0.

1. Scope of the Product

DESIRe is a software tool helping a person to improve
his/her requirements specification document.

DESIRe does not improve requirements specifications
documents automatically.

DESIRe does not measure the quality of requirements.

2. System Requirements

This version of DESIRe for Word runs with 
- MS Word 2002, 2003 and 2007 under Windows XP,
- MS Word 2007 under Windows Vista.

3. Installation

DESIRe is available as a setup file. After you have downloaded 
the setup file, double click on the file to begin the installation.
Please note that you have to close the Word® application before 
you install the DESIRe. A setup wizard will guide you through 
the rest of the setup process. 

Once the installation is finished you can see a new program 
group in the start program menu with a help file and "List of
Words" for the corresponding language (currently English and 
German versions available).

Note: During installation process, you may have no write access rights 
to the default installation location i.e. C:\Program Files... in that 
case you have to select a location where you have write access rights.

4 Starting DESIRe

If DESIRe for Word has been installed successfully, a DESIRe 
toolbar should be present in the Microsoft® Word®. Pressing 
this button will start DESIRe for Word.

5 Uninstall DESIRe

To uninstall DESIRe, you have to run the uninstaller executable 
from the DESIRe menu which will guide you through the rest of 
the uninstall process.

6. Release Notes

6.1 Features
 
  1. Start of DESIRe from a Word menu bar.
  2. Interaction with DESIRe via a separate GUI.
  3. Direct manipulation of Word documents during interaction 
     with DESIRe.
  4. Highlighting of current requirement in the Word text when
     navigating through requirements via DESIRe.
  5. Displaying of analysed requirement's text in the DESIRe GUI
  6. Highlighting of words found in analysed requirements' texts 
     in different colours corresponding with different semantics 
     (for further information please see the product's manual).
  7. Communication of information corresponding with words 
     identified in a requirement's text via three tabs with 
     variant text labels.
  8. Assignment of one "List of Words" per Word document.
  9. "List of Words" implemented as easy-to-modify Word tables.
 10. Manually controlled re-loading of the "List of Words" after
     changes in the "List of Words".
 11. Manually controlled re-analysis of requirements after text 
     changes in the original Word document.

6.2 Important changes

  1. Not only words ending with ",.;!?" can be found but also words
     using brackets "()[]{}" in the requirements will be analysed. 
     So, the variants of such a word do not require to add explicitly 
     in the column "Word variants" of the LoW.

  2. Navigation within Word-Tables is improved. The navigation 
     between the table cells is possible regardless the default 
     control characters in the Word-Table.

This version of DESIRe was tested under 
- Windows XP Service Pack 2 using MS Word 2002, 2003 and 2007,
- Windows Vista using MS Word 2007

6.5 Known Problems

- The loading time of the DESIRe varies depending on the size of the 
  "List of Words", for example, DESIRe requires approximately 30 seconds
  to load a "List of Words" containing 300 entries.
