Feedback on DESIRe®
We, the team of DESIRe® Product Development are very interested in your experiences and potentially self developed possible fields of application of DESIRe®. Should you have any suggestions on improvement or new requirements of DESIRe® we would be glad to hear from you. DESIRe® is permanently being further developed and you have the possibility to influence it. For your feedback on DESIRe® please use the email address DESIRe@HOOD-Group.com.
Question 1
Why does DESIRe® only recognize very few words within the texts of requirements and ask questions accordingly?
Answer:
DESIRe® only recognizes words which were defined in the word list used and only asks the questions which were also defined there. The supplied word list is an initial state, which serves as first basis for the application of DESIRe®. You should further develop the supplied word list by adaptation to the terminology used in your requirements documents.
The word list can never be adequate for all possible requirements documents, since its’ application depends on the use and meaning of individual terms in the specific fields of application.
Within the frame of the further development of DESIRe® the word list is being adapted according to the consolidated findings of accomplished DESIRe® projects, so that it may be used for a large scope of requirements documents. The enhanced word list will be available for free download. If you signed up for the newsletter upon your registration, you will be informed about the further development of the word list.
Question 2
Too many questions are being asked. It is difficult to keep the overview and to think about every single question and to improve the requirement. What do I have to do to expediently use DESIRe®?
Answer
Presumably there is a lot of text in every requirement. Therefore many words can be identified and questions asked thereto. You might take into consideration splitting each requirement into several requirements. In Requirements Management and Engineering this is referred to as “atomic requirements”.
Another possible cause might be that too many words are defined in the word list. In this case you should identify which of the recognized words and questions asked, least help with the improvement of requirements and delete these from the word list.
Question 3
My projects are bilingual (German and English) Can I use DESIRe® in this case?
Answer
Yes, since the basic word lists are availabe in a German version as well as in an English version
For the further proceeding you have two possibilities:
a) You administer both word lists separately (after having adapted them to your needs). Before the analysis of requirements you must switch to the related word list, accord to the language of the requirement to be analyzed.
b) Alternatively you can create a common word list, which contains the terminology of both word lists, - German and English.
Question 4 (only relevant for DESIRe® for DOORS®*)
Due to requirements with several sentences, the contents in the windows „Editable Object Text“ cannot be fully seen.
Answer
Use the scroll bar or increase the size of the DESIRe® window. Thereby the visible area is increased. In case of several sentences in one object, reflect whether they are not several requirements and whether you could create several objects with accordingly less text each.
